ᴘᴇʀsᴏɴᴀʟɪᴛʏ: On the surface, Cheria can be seen simply as a kind, helpful, cheerful, and motherly figure. When seeing someone in danger, Cheria's first instinct is to help, though this isn't necessarily through a fight - she's a healer, first and foremost, so she often takes her place healing the wounds and capturing the hearts of those she does indeed heal. This also applies to the people she is close to - she fusses over them, often taking on the role of being the cook for her respective party, and often worrying a lot about everyone, regardless of who they are: though Asbel and Sophie are often the first two to fall under her utmost protection and devotion. However, though mature and motherly, Cheria is, at heart, a teenage girl. Her appearance, her complexion, her clothes... all are things she values and worries about. Gross things? Definitely not approaching them, thanks, and no we are not going out the butt, absolutely not. And that's not mentioning dogging her love interest in case any competition gets near him. They are bound to be more interesting than her, right?
Cheria's determination and dedication to those she cares about can end up being a double-edged sword. Whilst she is usually rational and clear-headed, she can run into danger without much pre-thought if she believes it to be the best decision, or to help those she cares of the most; being, it will make a difference.
Part of Cheria's determination to heal those who have been injured, and, more specifically, to help, is the fact that as a child, she was often left behind in play-games. In fact, Cheria has been left behind much of her life. Whilst Cheria exhibits a cheerful personality, this is only skin deep: deep down, Cheria is scared of being left behind, of being abandoned. She doesn't ever want to be left alone in the same way again, and she guards her heart, and at times, finds it difficult to get close to anyone. She knows many people, absolutely, but not well. She can, and she will, be cold to the people who have hurt her the most: when Asbel walks out of her life, she is repeatedly cold to him and distant, refusing to let him see how much he really hurt her. Seven years did nothing but deepen that scar and his reappearance did not make that grudge go away. She does forgive, but only when she feels it is deserved. Likewise, when she is angry, she truly is angry. She is hardly demure and graceful in these circumstances, though they are admittedly, rare; but they do happen.
She hates the idea of not being useful. She heals and helps because she thought it was something she could never do. She thought she would not live to see the future, and so, in return, wants to help others to live theirs, regardless of her own happiness. In some ways, she is selfless - in other ways, she was running away from her problems. After talking, and reuniting with Asbel and her childhood friends, and much time passing in between, Cheria has overcome many of these issues, or is well on the way to doing so.
Guarding her heart often branches out into the way she exhibits affection. It takes a lot for her to get truly upset - to cry, in anguish, rather than in anger - and she will not just show it to anyone. Despite her anger with him - and the fact she missed him - Cheria loved Asbel, and always has. She doesn't show this directly, however; she often shouts, yells, and gets irritated at many things he does. She won't admit it if she's confronted with it, even if it's blindingly obvious to everyone else. Admitting her feelings, for Cheria, is the way of allowing complete access to her heart. At her canon point, she has just about managed that... sort of. It's unlikely she'll ever stop entirely. This is Asbel we're talking about here.
sᴀᴍᴘʟᴇ:
Cheria didn't remember falling asleep.
In fact, she didn't remember falling asleep outside. The moment she realised that, she winced, still too tired to open her eyes. She had given both Pascal and Sophie a full on lecture about sleeping in their beds not two days ago... and here she was. Going against what she'd told them. Ugh. What kind of example was she setting?
And she was probably going to have the worst bed-head when she opened her eyes. Unbelievable. This was not her day. Not her day at all.
Relucantly, Cheria opened her eyes- and frowned. The place that had come to mind, that she had pictured, was of course Lhant Hill. But it was quickly transpiring that it wasn't. No, she... she didn't remember this place at all. There was a tree, the one she was resting against... and she could tell, somehow, that it was brimming with something similar to eleth. How, she didn't know.
Slowly, Cheria stood up. Her body ached - probably from sleeping like this for so long - but she forced herself to look around. Nothing she recognised. No one she recognised, either. Not a good sign.
She breathed out, slowly. On the exterior, she looked calm.
"Asbel?" she tried, her voice betraying - if only just a little - how scared she was quickly becoming. "Sophie? Hubert? ... anyone?"
But there was nothing, except silence.
